Pruritus and itch are symptoms of many skin diseases, which are caused by infection, allergic contact dermatitis, dry skin, eczema, urticaria and atopic dermatitis. Pruritus can result in discomfort and frustration; in severe cases, it can lead to disturbed sleep, anxiety and depression. The Feng Zhen Zhi Yang Ling is formulated by adopting and modifying folk recipes according to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is useful in preventing and relieving pruritus and itch as well as drying up the lesions into scabs that eventually fall off the skin.
[ Dampness conditions exhibit these criteria ]
Eczemic problems are a result of the infiltration of Dampness into the skin and the Zang Fu organs. This is mainly manifested in two aspects: firstly, Damp disease often presents unsmooth discharge of the sticky secretions and excretions; secondly disease caused by Dampness, like eczema and arthralgia due to Dampness, usually has a long course and tends to attack repeatedly.
Tends to invade the lower part of the body and the Yin portion of the body: Disease caused by Dampness exhibit symptoms of the lower parts of the body in most cases. For example, edema is usually more severe in the lower limbs, moving upwards. So it is remarked in Tai Yin Yang Ming Lun (On the Pleen and the Stomach) of Su Wen (The Plain Questions): "When Dampness attacks the human body, it attacks the lower part of the body first."
A bottle will last for 50 days at 6 capsules a day. In most cases, 3 bottles are taken, followed by a maintenance dosage of 2 capsules once or twice a day until complete elimination of the evil dampness within the Spleen region. There should also be corresponding avoidance of seafood, spicy and pungent food items. Although Chinese medicine is time consuming, it treats the problem at its essence and has no side effects. Steroids may suppress the symptoms but the real problem is not addressed. Prolonged delay will lead to further complications. Usually, eczema starts from a just a few lesions at the extremities to spread upwards to the thighs, waist, arms, etc. If it had been treated earlier, less time is needed and the lesions would have been prevented from spreading. One key ingredient in the formula is the cicada slough. It sheds its skin occasionally to reveal a renewed body. The skin is harvested for its medicinal value. It is an excellent remedy for skin troubles and is a common ingredient in many traditional skin formulas. Because of its nature, it is not palatable to be made into a decoction for the contemporary person. Hence modern preparation techniques dry the slough and powdered them for inclusion into the formula. In parts of China and Thailand, the cicada is eaten raw as a delicacy and as a medicine.
