In the past, where there are no
shampoos or fancy hair sprays, the people of Siam uses a mixture of
fresh leaves and herbs to wash their hair. The result is a strong,
robust scalp with a headful of stubbornly black hair. The herbal mixture
is not perfumed, not coloured and the ingredients are used as soon as
they are collected in the wild. For many years, these formulas are not
used outside of these villages. We think that it is likely that the
modern consumer prefers synthetic products which are artificially
engineered to appeal to new generation. Another reason is that many of
these effective formulas were orally handed down, resulting in many
being lost in time. It is only in recent years when interest in natural
hair care begins to take root have these formulas been adapted for
modern use. Different provinces possess localized variations of this
formula, depending largely on the availability of the ingredients in a
particular area. A key ingredient is what the Thai native call the 'mee'
leaf.

After shampooing the hair, spray this product onto the scalp
and leave it to dry. If possible, shampoo your hair in the morning.
[ Thai traditional medicine ]
The advancement of modern medicine in the western world
during the early 20 th
century has led to the decline of the practice of traditional medicine in many
countries in the world, including Thailand, where
modern medicine becomes the mainstream healthcare system, and Thai traditional
medicine (TTM) becomes a branch of nonconventional or alternative medicine.
Eventually, it was well recognized that modern medicine was probably not the
answer to the good health of Thai people since a large amount of the country’s
healthcare expense was spent more on the treatment of diseases with high-priced
sophisticated equipment and imported new drugs than on the prevention of
diseases and health promotion. In addition, despite all the advancement of
medical technologies and the pharmaceutical industry, they cannot successfully
cure several chronic lifestyle-related diseases, which are major health problems
of today’s world, i.e. diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and
various types of cancer.
Systemic distribution of herbal medicines are not widely
practiced in Thailand. Herbal medicines together with the description of their
curative properties can be given to healthy people with the understanding that
they can use them when they happen to fall sick. Tradition has it that some
medicines are inspired by the Spirit and should be given to people free of
charge. Herbal medicines good for cancer and paralysis are included in this
category. The only return for the medicine given away in the form of a promise
to be made by the patient if he is cured, merit making will be performed and
dedicated to the Spirit and the master of the traditional medicine man.
Traditionally, herbal medicines can only be sold for token prices. The costs of
finished herbal medicines are cheap. Thai traditional herbal medicines are
cheap. Thai traditional medicial men prepare and sell herbal medicines in their
own homes. Advertisements and claims, even in subtle hints are almost unheard
of. Quite often, the patients have to seek out traditional medical men who live
in obscurity in order to obtain their medicines.
